Installing floor and drawer

It’s time to install the floor! I want the floor to lock into the front seat anchors, so I had to do some more thinking.

See how the framing of the pony wall above has a back to it? I decided to make use of the space between the framing for storage, so I backed one side with 1/4″ plywood for access from the front, and I’ll back the other one for access from the kitchen.

For the floor I ended up with these hurricane straps and a 1×8″ board.

The hurricane straps slide under the seat anchors, and the two pieces of the floor plywood will meet over this board and screw into it.

I didn’t want the space under the floor to be a dirt catcher. I originally thought I’d be able to use it to slide very flat things underneath for storage. But once I saw it all in action, I realized that between the shims and the middle seat tracks that wasn’t going to happen.

So I attached 1×2″ along the edge to finish it off. I think it looks nice!
